Not only does belly dance improve your memory but it also improves your ability to retain and recall information, such as when your are learning choreography or recalling technique or combinations. In addition to this you will also improve your coordination, strength, balance and posture!
So, belly dance is a great "brain" workout that feeds our spirits and nourishes our souls! Belly dance, by nature, is essentially made up of different types of muscular contractions that create various different shapes and deep internal movement, hence it's many healing qualities.
Belly dance is also a great form of therapy for the menopause. I have many students who have sworn to the results and relief from the menopause by belly dancing with me.
